New Project - Revil Music (Online Music Social Network)

Ok first a quick update from my last blog post.
Basically it all failed, they day everyone was meant to be coming up I was ill, and so far have not got another date to do it so its on hold to we have sorted some problems out.

Ok the new project go something like this....
I'm wanting to build a online social network that is for the local music scene in West Yorkshire, which will give it users some where online, to meet up with there favorite bands and artists. Can also be used for artist talk to each other, and organise gigs.
One of the main features I wish to implant in to the site would be a section where you can find Gigs and shows going on in your local area, anyone could add gigs, but must they would first have to be checked out by a admin, to stop fake shows appearing, and to also check no one is putting there own birthday party's etc, as only public event will be aloud.

I'm thinking of possible using Joomla to run the site, and have some sorta forum software too. However I'm not sure what Joomla Addon would work for the site, there are many social network addons, but none built for this type of website, so I might just use the addon, but customise it to work for the site.

The only thing I'm worried about with this site is actually build it, as it is fairly complex. I feel sure that I can get in the users however, I know a fair few local bands and music spots, and with the help of a few flyer's I'm sure I can get it up and going...

This is gonna take a long time to even get up and running, but I will report back when I have got a basic install of Joomla and update you on how things are going.

Screaming At The Microphones

Recently I went though a break up in my relationship, and went boozing it up with some old and new friends. I have already awaken with a tattoo on my wrist, and a sticky feeling all over my chest (not sure I really wanna know).

While getting drunk with my friends I have noticed how well we knew some songs, such as Empty Walls by Serj Tankian.
In my drunken state I said to everyone I should record us signing it, I can mix it all together and try make it sound some what decent. Now for some reason this plan is going ahead and everyone is turning up tomorrow. So I'm getting ready as I speak to have seven sober men and women turn up and my house, get them a bit fresh with a 15 pack of larger, and let the scream down my shiny clean mics while I sit in the next room recording it though my mixing desk to my computer.

I'm currently thinking of how to set this lot up so I can have a good practise with my gear...
I thinking the order of Ideas goes something like this...

  • Use bedding to block hard surfaces such as windows, and large walls.
  • Move computer closer to bedroom door for the sake of cables and leads.
  • Plug in mixing desk, and connect output to computer mic input.
  • Put mic stands and Mic's in spear room (studio).
  • Put mic cables though to studio and plug them in.
  • Put headphones for singer to listen to music playback from computer.
  • Print off lyrics to song. -Link-
  • Make them learn where the pitch and tempo changes in song.
  • Teach them some basic notes to aim for in song. (Might have to get the keyboard out for that)
I'm not sure yet what I should do for a video for this on YouTube, thinking might just set up camera in studio and leave it running and let my mates mess about with it how they what. Or should I make a meaningful video to fit the lyrics of the song. I might as well do both and mess about with it.

I will report back when I have got some more ideas.

I'm also still looking for a backing track to use, as I can't use the actual song due to copyright and not to mention there is already someone singing in it. Find this one a bit hard, but I will keep searching, might actually see if I can buy a karaoke backing track. Like I care if some two bit karaoke company try to sue me.

Will report tomorrow and let know whats happening.
